I like this idea of yours. But Im just wondering if this engine is indeed used then what kind of Engine Gaskets are you going to use?

I can help you to inprove your well known engine.
Have a look here:
http://challenge.ecomagination.com/home/First-Carnot-engine

It's a Stirling engine without dead volume and nearly perfect regenerator.
In fact it is a Curzon Alhlborn engine.Far from last generation of Philips-Stirling engines. I support your project.

After carefully reviewing your idea, I'd like to add that the true value behind inovation relies heavily uopn an idea's ability to have future impacts economically, environmentally, and socially. These impacts are worth noting, because they remain the only way to help promote a greener and more energy efficient future. Through practical everyday application, it is ideas like yours and mine that will be critical to widespread changes. In order succeed in such an endeavor requires not only great enginuity, but also future market abilities. Check out the ideas I have submitted, and let's support each other to help build a better future. http://challenge.ecomagination.com/home/External-Window-Guards-EWGs http://challenge.ecomagination.com/home/Thermal-Magnetic-Regulators Thanks..

Hi Ciaran, thanks for the comments. I read through the posts on the blog, but not sure what it is you feel I could comment on. If you are looking for the worlds first better-than-net zero community, I suggest you check out this island: http://www.energiakademiet.dk/default_uk.asp

Could you provide some numbers? There is a biomass generation facility in India that says it can construct the generation AND distribution infrastructure at less than $1/w. The minimum size, though, is 25kw. How would yours compare?
Really? that sounds revolutionizing - is that a Stirling engine as well? Our minimum is 35 kW, and the engine is built to provide an electrical efficiency of 28%, with a lifetime of 100,000 hours - how does this compare?

if one of these were installed in a neighborhood could it burn grass clippings, dead leaves etc.

Hi Ciaran, thanks for the questions. We feel as you do that there is an underexploited energy potential in standard horticultural and silvicultural practices. So far we are have only fully tested our technology with fresh wood chips with a high moisture content, 35-55%, but we expect to be able to use a wide variety of biomass leftover eventually. Our entire concept is based on small-scale self-sustainability, which fits in with what you write. The only time we have been able to smell our combustion process is for unscheduled maintenance, when not all of the product gas has been burned off in the combustion chamber.

the reason i ask this question is I am a hands on builder renovator and i often take my trailer to the dump and the amount of bio fuel being dumped is staggering, grass clippings from landscapers, chipped branches from arborists and all that wasted wood from construction. we are probably 50% of those there at the dump. a friend of mine built a pallet eater that can chip a pallet and remove all the nails this could be a great source for fuel. what other residential wastes could you use for fuel. do you have any technology to minimize the smell of the unit.
